Usually I do Paniyaram with Dosa/Idli batter.This is a different version of Paniyaram with lentils which I do when bored of continuously using dosa batter.
Ingredients:

Idli/Dosa batter

1 Cup

Thoor Dal

2 Tbl spn |
Moong Dal

2 Tbl Spn

Channa Dal

2 Tbl Spn |
Red Chilli

5 to 6

Asafoetida

1 tsp |
Fennel Seeds
|
2 tsp
|
Cumin Seeds
|
2 tsp |
Salt
|
To taste

Oil

As Required |
Method:
1. Soak the dals together for minimum one hour.
2. Powder Red Chilli, Fennel Seeds, Cumin Seeds, Asaoetida. Add
Dals to this powder and grind it into rough paste.
3. Mix this paste to the Idli/Dosa batter.
4. Grease the paniyara kal with oil. When it is heat add the
batter.
5. Always cook in slow flame or it may burn outside and the
batter inside will not be cooked.
6. When it is cooked on the lower side turn to the other side. Sprinkle
oil if necessary.
7. When it is golden brown or crispy enough take the
paniyarams.
8. You can add small onions/shallots, Green chillies,Curry leaves finely diced to this batter and enhance the taste
9. Coconut chutney is the best combination for this paniyaram.
