Avaraikkai or Indian Broad Beans Poriyal is a healthy recipe and goes well with many items. Be it Sambar ,Puzhi Kuzhambu, Rasam or Curd. It is very easy and quick to cook.

Indian Broad Beans

Small Onion/ Shallots

Mustard Seeds

Curry Leaves

Coconut Gratings

3 tsp (Optional) |
Method:
1. Rinse moong dal and soak in water for 15 mins.
2. Meantime wash Avaraikkai / Broad Beans. Cut them into
fine pieces. Do not cut too broad.
3. Cut the shallots or small onions.
4. Heat a pan. Add oil. When it is hot temper mustard
seeds,Curry leaves, broken Red chillies,Onion and fry well.
5. Add soaked moong dal and add little water.
6. Allow the moong dal to be semi cooked.
7. Add the cut Avaraikkai / Broad Beans and salt. Switch off
the stove once dal and avarakkai both are cooked.
8. If necessary you can add coconut gratings at the end.
